South Korea's Yeongnam getting second aircraft in September

New South Korean carrier Yeongnam Air plans to get a second aircraft in September, allowing it to substantially increase services.

The airline launched operations on 25 July and has a daily service from Busan to Jeju and from Daegu to Jeju but in September will get a second Fokker 100, a spokesman says from the carrier’s headquarters in Busan.

The carrier’s first aircraft is leased from Dutch company Mass Holdings. The airline has said previously that its second aircraft will also come from Mass.

Yeongnam’s spokesman says the carrier has a limited schedule because it only has one aircraft but this will change once it gets the second aircraft.

He also says the airline in August plans to launch an advertising and marketing campaign to raise awareness for its brand.

Its main competitors are Asiana Airlines, Jin Air, Korean Air, Han Sung Airlines and Jeju Air. Several other carriers are also being established in South Korea.
