PICTURE: Australian Army signs for more Skylark 1 UAVs from Elbit Systems

The Australian Army has ordered more Skylark 1 unmanned air vehicles from Elbit Systems. This multi-million dollar deal is the third from the Australian Department of Defence for the compact, hand-launched UAV, following the initial order for the army in 2005. The UAV is equipped with day and night observation and data collection payload for a range of more than 10km (5.4nm). Skylark 1 has a quiet electric propulsion system and features fully autonomous take-off and landing.
