PICTURE: Finnair unveils Oneworld alliance livery on A340-300E

Finland’s national carrier Finnair has painted two aircraft in a new colour scheme designed to highlight its membership of the Oneworld airline alliance.

The aircraft’s latest Airbus A340-300E, OH-LQE, and one of its A319s, OH-LVF, both carry the livery which prominently features the ‘Oneworld’ name on the forward fuselage.

It also includes the fin designs of Finnair and the other nine alliance members towards the rear.

“Oneworld provides us with revenues and cost-savings we simply would not enjoy if we were not part of the alliance,” says Finnair deputy chief executive Henrik Arle.

“Decorating two of our aircraft in this special livery is our way of reflecting what an asset Oneworld is to Finnair, and to our customers, shareholders and employees.”

Chilean Oneworld member LAN’s Argentine affiliate has featured a similar design on one of its Airbus A320s while two Japan Airlines Boeing 777s have also been painted in special alliance colours.

Finnair was elected to the alliance 10 years ago, the first to join the group outside of its five founding carriers.
