Skybus executives make another relaunch attempt

Former Skybus Airlines executives are again attempting to launch a low-cost, point-to-point carrier as the carrier's founder John Weikle and Skybus chief pilot turned vice-president operations Chris Gazel attempt to establish a base and secure financing. Grazel says he hopes the airline, which has the working title JetAmerica, will launch prior to 2010. The startup is interested in Airbus A319/A320s, Boeing 737-700/800s, and Embraer 190s, he says.

Earlier this year Weikle raised $3 million in seed money for a West Virginia start-up - low-cost Jet America - that failed to move forward after investors were put off by the closure of Skybus.
