The last Airbus A340-300 currently on order is undergoing testing in Toulouse ahead of delivery to an undisclosed customer - believed to be a Russian VIP. Unless Airbus secures more orders, this aircraft (MSN 955) will be the last of 246 CFM International CFM56-powered A340-200/300 "Classics" to be delivered.

Although assembly has been completed of the last A340-300 on order Airbus says that it continues to offer the variant as it shares much commonality with its sister model, the A330 twinjet, and they are built on the same production line.
While output of the larger, Rolls-Royce Trent 500-powered A340-500/600 is expected to remain at an average of one a month, production of the A330 is being increased from eight to 11 aircraft.
