Airbus awards additional A350 business to Hamilton Sundstrand

Hamilton Sundstrand has been selected by Airbus to supply the ram air turbine emergency power system for the A350 XWB.

The United Technologies subsidiary estimates revenues from the deal should exceed $500 million during the contract's multi-year duration.

During an extremely rare loss of engine power the ram air turbine deploys into the airstream and produces power from the cockpit and flight controls to safely land the aircraft.

Hamilton Sundstrand in February of this year was selected by Airbus to supply the A350 electric power generation system. Both that system and the ram air turbine will be designed at the company's facility in Rockford, Illinois.
