L-3 Avionics Systems (Booth 4200) is celebrating three contract wins for its GH-3100 Electronic Standby Instrument System (ESIS).

The instrument has now been selected as standard equipment on the all-new Viking Air Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft, while Kansas City Aviation Center (KCAC) has received an FAA Supplemental Type Certificate to install the GH-3100 in the Pilatus PC-12 single engine turboprop. Pro Star Aviation has also received a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) to install the GH-3100 in Sikorsky's S-76A, S- 76B, S-76C helicopters.

The GH-3100 is a solid-state standby instrument designed to help pilots fly safely in emergency situations. Its Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) provides exceptional readability in direct sunlight as well as dark cockpit environments, and the unit can interface with the aircraft’s navigation systems.

Information such as altitude, attitude, airspeed and heading is combined with GPS, FMS and radio navigation data in a layout similar to the primary flight displays. This familiarity helps the pilot shift to the standby instruments more easily. A single GH-3100 provides enough situational information to enable the pilot to navigate the aircraft to safety, even in instrument conditions.
