Japan Airlines has taken delivery of its first Embraer 170, but it not will start services until early February as the twinjet will initially be used for several months of crew training. The 76-seater is the first of 10 that the airline has on firm order and the first E-170 to go to a Japanese airline.

JAL's J-Air subsidiary, which is based at Nagoya's secondary Komaki airport, will operate the Embraers on domestic services. Flights from Tokyo Haneda airport are expected to begin in 2010, when a fourth runway opens at the congested facility.
