PICTURE: France’s Blue Line shows off corporate MD-83

French executive and wet-lease charter specialist Blue Line has taken delivery of a Boeing MD-83, configured in a 54-seat premium layout, a type which it labels as an "unexpected executive airliner".

Paris Charles de Gaulle-based Blue Line, which began operations in May 2002, has unveiled its new all-business ex-Spanair MD-83 which is able to perform up to seven-hour flights.

The forward part of the cabin is fitted with a premium, executive layout with six seats, which rotate, slide and fully recline. These are located around tables and this cabin section can be converted into private bedroom with a double and a single lie-flat bed.

Further down the aircraft, the mid-section is furnished with tables and eight seats which recline to a 150° angle. The same seats occupy the final cabin section, which is in a more typical, but luxurious, airline business-class layout.

Blue Line says: "This unique, yet versatile configuration enables a high level of privacy, discretion and ultimate comfort."

The aircraft was first delivered to Blue Line in April, but was re-delivered 10 days ago following the extensive revamp, which includes the new cabin and livery. Blue Line international development manager Pierre-Emmanuel Allard says the work represented a "very consequential investment".

Blue Line operates two Fokker 100s and, including the new addition, four MD-83s. Two of its MD-83s are fitted with a 60-seat business-class layout and one of the Fokkers is also equipped with a VIP configuration.
