British Airways has shown for the first time the interior cabin layout of the all-business Airbus A318s it will use on transatlantic routes from London City Airport.

During a presentation for the carrier's investor day on 5 March, director of BA customer business Silla Maizey referred to the new operation, due to start in September.

One of her presentation slides illustrated a mock-up of the A318 cabin with the layout, which features business seat-beds - an example of which was put on display for attendees.

"That's our new cabin, that's the London City product that will come on line in the autumn," said Maizey. "We are very excited about that."

The image was accompanied by a plan view of the 32-seat aircraft and a reference to communications provider OnAir, which is to provide in-flight mobile phone services on board.

While BA has since made all its investor day presentations available on its Internet site, this particular slide is no longer among them. But Flightglobal has obtained a copy which can be viewed in full here.

BA has ordered two A318s to serve the London City-New York JFK route, six days per week. The twin-jets will stop in Shannon on the westbound service.
