Deccan Express Logistics, a new Indian cargo airline and logistic's firm, had its first flight today using one of its Airbus A310Fs.

A spokeswoman in Delhi for the carrier says the A310F took off today at 12:00 and it was a positioning flight from Delhi to Hong Kong.

She says over the next fortnight the carrier will have a twice-weekly service from Hong Kong to Delhi and in the coming weeks will be adding Chennai and Mumbai to its network.

The carrier's other two A310Fs will be arriving before the end of June and in five months from now it will be adding the first of six ATR freighters, she adds.

Deccan Express Logistics was originally planning to launch on 19 May but the spokeswoman says it only received is air operator's certificate a few days ago.

The company's founder is GR Gopinath who was the founder of India's first low-cost carrier Air Deccan which he later sold to Kingfisher Airlines.
