The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating a near-miss between a PSA Airlines Bombardier CRJ200 and a Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprop at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport on the morning of 29 May in clear weather.

The CRJ200, operating as US Airways Express flight 2390 with 42 passengers and three crew, was cleared for takeoff on runway 18L for a flight to New Bern, North Carolina. While in its takeoff roll, the PC-12 was cleared to "position-and-hold" at an intersection farther down the same runway, in preparation for a takeoff at that point, says the NTSB.

Controllers were alerted to a potential collision by the airport's ASDE-X ground surveillance system, and cancelled the regional jet's takeoff clearance. Though the PC-12 pilot saw the CRJ approaching and taxied to the side of the runway, the NTSB says the two aircraft stopped only 3m (10ft) from each other.
