Bell Boeing has won an $11 million contract to improve the reliability of certain components on the US Marine Corps MV-22s and Air Force CV-22s.

The "Phase 1.5" contract modifies the original Phase 1 performance based logistics deal placed with the Bell Boeing in January.

The improvements will focus on the reliability of components "that have been determined to have a significant impact on mission readiness", Bell Boeing says.

The $11 million pays for non-recurring engineering work that will address the reliability issues.

The upgrades "will be key to boosting aircraft reliability and mission readiness rates as we continue to mature the Osprey fleet", the company adds.

The Phase 1 contract is valued at $581 million over five years, and provides an integrated logistics service for the V-22 fleet.

A planned Phase 2 contract will expand the relationship to include supply chain management for about 15,000 spare and repair aircraft parts, Bell Boeing says.
