Pratt & Whitney (hall 5, B20) and Kale Aero have signed an agreement to create a joint venture for engine component manufacture in Istanbul.
The new venture will initially focus on production manufacturing hardware for the F135 engine powering the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II Jint Strike Fighter.
Its scope will later expand to include metal fabrications and spare parts for the F100, F117 and F119 military engines, says the Canadian OEM. Kale Aero, part of Turkish industrial conglomerate Kale Group, will take a 51% holding in the joint venture, with P&W taking the remainder.
In a separate deal P&W has awarded TCS Group contracts to supply oil nozzle components and borescope adapters for the F-135. It values the deal at more than $19 million over the life of the programme. Based in Turin, TCS Group is a specialist in precision machining of small engine components.
