General Electric's GEnx-2B engine for the Boeing 747-8 is close to completing the first phase of its flight tests on the engine maker's 747 flying testbed.
The engines have run more than 1,100h and 1,400 cycles in ground tests since certification testing began in February 2008. The second phase of flight-testing on the 747 testbed is scheduled for this autumn. Flight tests on the 747-8 are scheduled for September.
