US Airways has become the latest North American carrier to sign on as a customer for Aircell's Gogo in-flight broadband system.
Gogo will initially be installed on US Airways' A321 aircraft, flying select domestic routes beginning in early 2010.
The exact pricing for Gogo on US Airways will be announced closer to the launch date. However, customers will be able to choose service from Aircell's standard pricing structure, which currently ranges from $5.95 to $12.95, depending on the length of flight and type of Wi-Fi enabled device used, notes the carrier.
"Gogo in-flight Internet will allow our customers to make the most of their flying time by catching up on work or relaxing and surfing the Internet. This is an exciting new option for our passengers that we believe will enhance their travel experience," says US Airways senior vice-president, marketing and planning Andrew Nocella in a statement.
Aircell's system is operated over an air-to-ground link. The company has now secured contracts with eight North American customers - Air Canada, AirTran Airways, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, US Airways, Virgin America and one as yet undisclosed carrier.
Further details about US Airways' Gogo equipage plans were not immediately available.
