A requirement to supply an "expeditionary UAS" (EUAS) for US special forces will be the first competitive test of a new marketing agreement signed by Boeing and Schiebel.
Boeing has proposed the Schiebel S-100 Camcopter to win the EUAS contract, which is now in the source selection phase by US Special Operations Command, says Vic Sweberg, Boeing's new director for UAS.
Boeing and Schiebel also plan to offer the S-100 to the US Navy and Coast Guard, which have shown interest in the unmanned helicopter, Sweberg says. Any overlap of capability between the S-100 and the Insitu ScanEagle can "be managed", he adds.
