Aurora Flight Sciences (booth 641) yesterday launched an OPV version of the new Diamond DA42M featuring the recently certificated Austro diesel engine.

President John Langford says the performance is impressive. "With two people it has a 17h endurance, in OPV configuration with 100lb payload it has endurance of 26h or a radius of 1,000nm"

Langford says the light-twin will retain its EASA certification and can combine the best of OPV and manned. "It is ideal for ferry operations or for where operations are too dangerous for manned aircraft."
