Airbus wins EASA approval for autopilot-flown TCAS avoidance manoeuvres

The European Aviation Safety Agency has just certificated the new Airbus autopilot/flight-director guided traffic alert and collision avoidance system for the A380. If the autopilot is engaged when a TCAS collision avoidance manoeuvre alert is generated, unless the pilot overrrides it, the autopilot will fly the avoidance precisely. If the pilot is flying manually at the time, he/she just follows the flight director to enable avoidance.
