Engine Alliance GP7200s have marked their first full year of service powering an Emirates A380 with no in-flight shutdowns and a departure reliability rate greater than 99.9%.
The carrier operates five GP7200-powered A380s and will be the largest operator of GP7200-powered A380s, with a total order for 58 aircraft and more than 250 engines.
Air France is scheduled to receive its first GP7200-powered A380 in October, and Air Austral, Etihad Airways, International Lease Finance and Korean Airlines have also ordered GP7200-powered A380s.
Engine Alliance is a 50-50 joint venture between GE, which makes the GP7200's high-pressure compressor, combustor and high-pressure turbine, and Pratt & Whitney, which makes the fan module, low-pressure compressor and low-pressure turbine.
Other GP7200 programme participants include MTU Aero Engines, Snecma and Techspace Aero.
