AA09: Mandarin ends links with Fokker

Mandarin Airlines has sold its last two remaining Fokker 100s and will be phasing out the type.

The Taiwanese carrier said yesterday that it has sold its last two Fokker 100s to Dutch aircraft leasing firm Mass Holdings, allowing the carrier is focus on operating Embraer regional jets.

According to Flightglobal's ACAS database, Mandarin has a fleet of eight Embraer 190s. Its two Fokker 100s were built in 1995 and 1996.

The airline says there are relatively few Fokker 100s in Asia and that this type is more popular in Europe.

Mandarin also had a third Fokker 100 on lease from Mass Holdings, but this aircraft has since left the fleet, it adds.

Mandarin Airlines is the regional arm of Taiwan's national carrier China Airlines. It operates on routes within Taiwan, but also flies to China and nearby countries.
