Akima acquires Pegasus Aircraft Maintenance
By

Akima Management Services has closes on an acquisition of Pegasus Aircraft Maintenance to broaden it offerings beyond supplying aviation services to the US government.

Pegasus was formed nine years ago by two former FedEx cargo mechanics and currently has 90 employees. Now that the acquisition is complete it will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Akima, which has 3,500 staff.

Both companies are based in Alaska. Pegasus provides aviation services for 80% of the international cargo traffic operating through Anchorage. Its clients include Cathay Pacific, Delta, Frontier Asiana, EVA Air Cargo, Japan Airlines and Shanghai Air Cargo.

Akima is owned by Nana Development Corporation, which is the business arm of the NANA Regional Corporation.

The NANA Regional Corporation is an Alaska Native Corporation formed in 1971 under the Alaska Native Land Claims Settlement Act, and is owned by the Inupiat people.
