VIDEO & PICTURE: Gulfstream rolls G250 and G650 within two weeks

Gulfstream has rolled out its second new business jet in as many weeks.

The first prototype of the super-midsize G250, designed and built in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries, was unveiled at IAI's facilities at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv on 6 October.

T1, the first prototype, is one of three test aircraft that will complete a 1,300h flight-test programme due to be completed in 2011.

Gulfstream rolled out its largest and fastest twinjet to date, the G650, in Savannah on 29 September.

IAI chairman Yair Shamir says there are nine orders so far for the $24 million eight- to 10-passenger twinjet, although Gulfstream says no order targets were required for the launch. Officials say they expect orders to increase as the economy recovers.

The G250 is powered by Honeywell HTF7250G turbofan engines and equipped with Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics.

IAI will build the aircraft in Israel and Gulfstream will perform the completion in Dallas, Texas. This matches the processes employed for the G150 and G200 midsize aircraft.
