Sydney Airport's Q2 earnings rise 5%

Sydney Airport posted a 5% rise in third quarter earnings due to an increase in revenue and fall in expenditure.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITA) rose 5% to A$20.5 million ($19 million) from A$19.4 million, says Sydney Airport.

Total revenues increased 5% to A$212.0 million and expenditure fell 3% to A$39.6 million.

Sydney Airport's traffic increased 0.9% in the third quarter year-on-year.

New entrants such as V Australia and Air Austral made their Sydney debuts in the first half and in July, Sydney Airport welcomed Delta Air Lines and Tiger Airways, it adds.
