China Southern eyes new US and Southeast Asia services

China Southern Airlines has applied to the Civil Aviation Authority of China to operate flights on several new routes.

The Guangzhou-based carrier wants to begin three-times weekly cargo services on the Shanghai Pudong-Anchorage-Chicago route by early next year. It plans to operate either Boeing 747-400Fs or Boeing 777s on this route, says the CAAC.

It also plans to start twice-weekly Guangzhou-Cebu flights using Airbus A320s, and four times weekly Guangzhou-Surat Thani services using Boeing 737-800s.
