Ameco Beijing to work on PW4000 thrust reversers

Ameco Beijing is hoping Air China and Air China Cargo will grant it more engine work now that the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) firm is adding more engine capability.

The MRO says its sister company Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen will be helping it to train personnel so they can work on Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engine thrust reversers.

"The PW4000 fan thrust reversers of Air China and Air China Cargo Boeing 767 and Boeing 747s were previously sent overseas for repair."

"Now all of these may be overhauled at Ameco Beijing," it says.

"The project may better reduce turnaround times and costs for Air China" and other customers, it adds.

An Ameco Beijing spokeswoman says the first PW4000 thrust reverser will be delivered to the MRO firm at the end of this month. But she declines to say who the airline customer is.

The MRO is a joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa.
