Philippine Airlines receives its first 777

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has received its first Boeing 777.

Boeing says it has delivered a GE-powered Boeing 777-300ER to PAL, and that the aircraft's owner is GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS).

This is PAL's first 777. In late 2006, the Philippines' flag carrier signed a deal to lease two 777-300ERs from GECAS. It also ordered four 777-300ERs from the manufacturer.

PAL plans to use the 777-300ERs on long-haul international routes, instead of relying solely on Boeing 747s and Airbus A340-300s for these services.
