Thai Airways International plans to get four to six Boeing 777-300ERs to replace its older 747s, says the carrier's executive VP commercial Pruet Boobphakam.
"We have 12 747s and we're looking at phasing out four to six of them over the next two years," he says. The 747s are more than 18 years old.
The Star Alliance carrier will turn to a leasing company to get the 777s since it wants them within the next two years, adds Boobphakam.
It will use the aircraft on long haul routes such as those to Europe, he says.
