Airliner net orders came in at 27 in January as 28 new orders were offset by a single cancellation, with another 12 swaps.
Ethiopian Airlines ordered ten Boeing 737s while Yemenia placed an order for ten Airbus A320s. China’s CASGC swapped 12 A320s for the A321 variant. Embraer’s subsidiary ECC Leasing ordered two 170s while Laos’ Lao Airlines ordered two Comac ARJ21s. Jazeera Airways made the only cancellation of the month with a single A320.
Airbus totalled 12 new orders in January while Boeing followed with ten. Embraer received four orders while China’s Comac received two orders for its ARJ21 regional aircraft.
A total of 12 A320 family aircraft orders were placed during the month while Boeing received orders for ten 737s. In the regional market, the ARJ21, ERJ-135 and 170 each received two orders. No widebody or turboprop orders were placed during the month.
Overall, the order backlog for airliners ended January at 7,766, down 54 on the previous month.
