Flight is in the process of opening its archive, dating back to 1908, to the public.
Soon all pages from the magazine, images and cutaways will be available online.
As a taster, you can now view arrangements for the first Farnborough air show in 1948. It was the ninth SBAC (then Society of British Aircraft Constructors) Flying Display and Exhibition, but the first to be held at the Farnborough air field. Previous SBAC exhibitions had taken place at the annual RAF Airshow at Hendon betwen 1920 and1937, and then at at Radlett in 1946 and 1947.
Flight included details of the shuttle buses from Farnborough railway stations, trade day entrances and chalets for VIPs as well as the already-famous flying displays. Click here to view the page from p3 of FLIGHT from 2 September 1948 in Adobe Acrobat portable document format (PDF).
