Cargo carrier ACT Airlines has signed for a pair of Airbus A330-200 freighters, becoming the second Turkish operator to commit to the new Airbus cargo aircraft.
ACT Airlines will use the A330-200Fs to offer long-range cargo services. It plans to operate flights from Istanbul to Hong Kong, New York and Singapore with the new aircraft. The airline has not announced a delivery schedule or engine selection for the aircraft type.
Airline chief executive Yavuz Cizmeci says: "At the moment, ACT operates with seven Airbus A300B2/B4 freighters. The new A330 order will give us more opportunity to perform long range operations."

ACT becomes the second Turkish carrier to commit to the A330-200F, which Airbus formally launched at the start of the year and deliveries of which are set to begin in late 2009. Turkish cargo operator MNG Airlines firmed an order for two of the type, plus one option, during this summer’s Paris Air Show.
