Central Asian carrier Uzbekistan Airways is to acquire four more Boeing 767-300ERs and another four Airbus A320 aircraft as part of a fleet expansion.

The Tashkent-based airline says it signed an agreement with Boeing on 30 October to provide the twin-jets over 2012-13.

It has also signed an agreement to acquire another four A320s, for delivery in 2013-14.

These will be in addition to the six A320s which the flag-carrier is already planning to take in 2011-12, following a deal last year.

It has not identified an engine selection for the extra A320s but CFM International CFM56s were chosen for the earlier six.

Earlier this year the carrier reached a deal to take Pratt & Whitney PW4000 engines for four 767s, plus a spare powerplant, although it did not clarify its reasons at the time.

Uzbekistan Airways also has two Boeing 787-8s on order, bringing to 16 the total number of new aircraft to be delivered over 2011-16.
