PARIS AIR SHOW: IAE wins new engine business from Air China

Air China has selected the International Aero Engines V2500 to power 22 Airbus A320/A321 aircraft through a new contract valued at $700 million.

Deliveries of the aircraft equipped with the powerplants commence in April 2010.

The carrier's engines are the V2500 SelectOne model, featuring a 1% fuel-burn advantage and reduced CO2 emissions.

"We are delighted to grow our long-term relationship and strengthen the partnership between Air China and IAE," says IAE executive vice-president Ian Aitken.

IAE says that roughly 370 V2500-powered aircraft are either in service or on order in greater China. The company is also the lead engine supplier to the Airbus A320 final assembly line in Tianjin, powering nine of the first 10 aircraft assembled at the new site.
