Australian carrier Virgin Blue has signed an interline agreement with Emirates and also decided to have a tie-up with the Middle East carrier's frequent flyer programme.

Virgin Blue says in a statement the two parties have signed the interline agreement and it will help passengers travelling on Virgin Blue domestic flights who need to connect to Emirates international flights.

It also says Virgin Blue frequent flyer members will be able to earn and redeem points when travelling on Emirates and vice versa.
