About me
Hi and welcome to the Editor’s Blog, I’m Michael Targett.
I joined Flightglobal as Editor in March 2007.
In addition to the aviation industry, I’m interested in digital journalism, online communities, social and business networking and virtual environments.

I am not one to gloat when things turn out other than expected. However, I am compelled to make an exception in this case; for when Airbus was going through teething pains during final assembly of the first A380, the whole world (including Boeing) was watching - and supposedly learning.
What is it that denies an assumingly reasonable person the impetus to observe cues from his environment to avoid making 'stupid' decisions or unintentionally inflicting corporate harm?
As far as I am concerned, the entire board and management team at Boeing are incompetent imbeciles - and should be held accountable for their gross negligence. The lessons they should have applied to constructing the 787 were taught a couples years back when Airbus ran into the wiring problems. It is a given that final assemble of parts constructed at different locations and by different companies will face certain challenges – known challenges.
Now I can fully appreciate why the Pentagon chose the A330 and Airbus/Northrop team to supply the US Air Force with tankers. Boeings applied short-sightedness cannot even be compared to that of the Bush administration in their decision to invade Iraq.
