I found your article dated 07 Nov 08 on Mexicana acquiring Airbus 330s to begin their very first expansion into Europe with flights beginning soon, Mexico City to Madrid, incorrect.
The Museum of Flight in Seattle has a former Mexicana de Havilland Comet Mk 4C. And as restoration project manager for the Museum’s Mexicana de Havilland Comet Mk 4C for the last nine years for the Museum of Flight, located at Paine Field, Everett, WA. I would like to correct the slight oversight of your article.
Mexicana Airlines flew their three (3) de Havilland Comet Mk 4Cs from Mexico City, via Miami to Madrid starting in 1960 until the retirement of the Mk 4Cs in 1970. The Comet didn’t have the legs to go nonstop from Mexico City, but it was a trans Atlantic jet and did serve Madrid from the Americas.
Sincerely,
James C. Goodall

Thanks for the update James.
I'll pass on the information to the journalist who authored the story.

Very timely comment - we're in the process of building the Webbies pages at the moment.
The Flightglobal Aviation Web Awards 2009 will open for entries on 23 November. You'll then have around 6 weeks to enter before judging commences.
I'll write a blog post soon to give a bit more info.
