Flight International issue 17 - 24 February
You probably heard about the melodramatic, self-important rant by British actor Christian Bale at someone on the set of his new film Terminator Salvation. We at Flightglobal discovered a clever mash-up of the rant remixing it with "Sully", the captain of the US Airways A320 who chose ditching on the River Hudson as the safest option following a bird strike on takeoff from La Guardia last month.
Keep your eyes peeled at around the 26 second mark on the video uploaded to Kieran Daly's Unusual Attitude blog to see a very near miss of a Tornado and Tucano.
Virgin has upset some television viewers who have complained about the retro ad being sexist and insulting to women. The Airline Business blog is not impressed. It says: "Oh pur-lease, sometimes it feels as though all some people do is look for things they're "offended" by and then make formal complaints," and asks: "Was anyone else offended by this advert? Or did most of you just passively watch it, maybe have a slight chuckle about the over-sized 1980s mobile phones, and then continue having a life?"
Stefan the Pilot, friend of Flightglobal.com, too, jetted off, this time to Addis Ababa. Follow him on twitter and also check out his travel snaps on Flickr. There's a great image of him with Girma Wake, Ethiopia's CEO. Watch out for more images from Stefan. He's off on a round the world trip in the coming weeks, courtesy of Virgin.
Week on the Web is also available as an audio podcast on AirSpace and iTunes.
