November 2009 Archives

Airspace blank logo.jpgApologies for anyone wishing to use AirSpace at the moment.

We've taken the forum and gallery platform down temporarily while we deploy an important upgrade. When completed, this upgrade will feature a sleek new look and more features for members.

We're anticipating that AirSpace will be down for about a day or so - the reason being is that there is so much data to transfer across to the new servers (images are big files!). Obviously we're sorry for the inconvenience, but hopefully it will all be worth it once completed.

What features can you expect to see from the new AirSpace?

  • A substantial redesign - The old purple will be a thing of the past as AirSpace gets a much needed make-over. Expect the new design to look more attuned to the rest of Flightglobal while also making use of the width of the screen.
  • New functionality - All of your favourite elements of AirSpace will still be here (Forums/Blogs/Images) but we're adding Wikis and Groups, allowing you to create entries and groups on any topic of interest.
  • Greater personalisation - The profile function is being expanded and being made more prominent so it follows both personal and general site activity, much like on Facebook.
  • Improved speed/performance - Our aim is to make AirSpace much faster, with for example, a multiple image uploader allowing you to quickly paste many images at once.

Obviously this is the first Flightglobal mobile app that we've developed, but we do intend to produce more applications focused on specific activities and topics within the aviation and aerospace communities.

If you've got a good idea of what you'd like to see in a future app then please drop a comment onto this post and we'll take it on board.
