I can't give you specifics on this one photo but I may be able to point you in the right direction for a web search.

I had never heard of a Hawker Typhoon until a week ago. A friend gave me a book written in 1982 entitled "Typhoon Pilot: The story of an ace RNZAF figher pilot -- and a legendary aircraft." It was written by Group Captain D. J. Scott who, along the way, commanded 123 Wing consisting of "four RAF squadrons of Rocket-Firing Typhoons -- in the campaigns in northern Europe." He started with 486 (NZ) Squadron in Tangmere, England in September of 1943. The author was living in Christchurch, New Zealand, when the book was written. The Forward of the book was written by Air Vice-Marshal W. J. Crisham. Other names are flight commanders Harvey Sweetman and Arthur "Spike" Umbers. I need to read the 170 page book but so far it is just in the queue. Pretty cool stuff!
