Air India Boeing 707 Mont Blanc .jpgIn the centre of this photograph is said to be the wreckage of the Air India Boeing 707 (en route from Bombay to New York via Beirut, Geneva and London) that crashed into Mont Blanc on this day in 1966.

The Flight archives recorded the accident briefly because the magazine issue came out two days later.

In the issue of 3 February 1966 Flight reported in more detail that the aircraft "hit Rocher de la Tournette, a 15,330ft peak of Mont Blanc (15,782ft) at 0707hr GMT on January 24 while descending on an approach to Geneva." Read more of the disaster in our pdf archive...

This image was taken by Flight International's news editor Dan Thisdell during his Mont Blanc adventure with Dassault Aviation last May.

Dear Sir

It sure looks like a tail fin/elevator on the centre LHS. Are there any other views?

Just watching a tv show in india about past life regression. A passenger who was on this flight in 1966 has been reborn as a woman and she is narrating the incident! Mind blowing! NDTV imagine is the channel on which you can see this show daily. I googles the info that the lady gave in her session and google led me to here

This Picture is fake, In 1966 Colour Photography is not placed well and the picture shown in good quality

shahnawaz

but that lady says about Air India Boeing 101
and i got information on Air India Boeing 707

what's that

Dan Thisdell

I took this picture in July 2008 with a Canon EOS 350D while on final approach to the Mont Blanc summit. The wreckage was spotted by a pair of guides, who are regulars on the route.

Shahnawaz,

The Lady , Ms Swati Singh, during her past life regression, clearly said Flight No: 101 & she did not mention about type of aircraft ( Being 707 or otherwise). She was a Sailor named D Singh in her previous birth & occupied window seat 23F on 24 Jan 1996 from Delhi enroute New York. She also mentioned that Indian Scientist Dr Homi Jehangir Bhabha was travelling in the same flight which crashed in Mont Blanc.

I watched the program fully

I also watch this program on NDTV and I was also confused about the lady saying Air India 101, I googled further and noticed that it was Air India 101 Boing 707.

Still hard to believe...

I am going to India next months any suggestions about delhi travel ideas? Any accomodation suggestion?
