Australians sometimes come under fire for thinking culture is something you find in yogurt.
Australia's flag carrier Qantas is going some way to reversing this poor opinion of Aussies, with its new wine-tasting menu in first class.
The eight-course tasting menu will be introduced on its international flights from Australia to Bangkok, Singapore and Los Angeles to begin with, but group general manager of customer product and services Lesley Grant believes it will become a "signature product" for most Qantas first-class fliers.
Qantas has also reintroduced caviar on a small number of international first class flights.
The menu will be matched with wines from the Qantas wine cellar. Qantas will supply a pocket guide to the wines currently offered in Qantas first and business cabins. The guide has tasting notes, compiled by independent wine writer and educator Peter Bourne, on the 145 wines available in Qantas' cabins and lounges.
