The Israeli air force (IAF) will increase its co-operation with other air forces, and will participate in the next “Blue Flag” drill.
Earlier this month the largest ever multinational air force drill took place in Israel.
50 fighter aircraft from Italy, Greece, the USA and Israel flew missions in a vast area of southern Israel closed to all other air traffic. Fighter aircraft from seven IAF squadrons also participated.
Some 20 observers from countries that don’t actively participate also followed the complex exercise.
The IAF says the drill was very successful, and proved once again that such drills contribute to all the participants.
Future drills will see more air forces involved, and according to an Israeli source they will be more complex.
The source added that the changing Middle East geopolitical “atmosphere” increased the need for such drills.
