A look at Haneda’s new international terminal

Japan’s gateway to the world, Narita International Airport has for years lagged behind its rivals when it comes to ease of access, eating and shopping options. But this could soon change when Tokyo’s Haneda airport, the smaller of the city’s two airports and primarily a domestic flight hub, opens with a gleaming new international terminal on October 21 to tap into a surge in customer numbers expected when the much anticipated new runway opens.

Below are some pictures Haneda were nice enough to share with us of the new terminal.

I enjoy reading the Asian Skies blog a lot. But I am wondering, especially since your main focus is on the airline aspect of ‘the skies”, why do you seem to completely ignore the Philippines. A lot going on with some business exspansion here, as well as a real cat fight between the national flag airline, PAL, and pilots of that otganization who are deserting to higher paid jobs at other airlines.

The unions are mad, the airlines are mad, the government is boiling mad, the passengers are frequently stranded … and the most news worthy aspect of Asian Skies is computer-generated artist’s renderings of the Haneda terminal? Just which countries comprise the “Asia” in “Asian Skies” anyway?

yo… great pixs.. and scoop… classy decor.

It kinda teleports one into a traditional Japanese movie or soap… hmm… 3-D movie effect, but the real deal.

I wonder what the lounges are going to be like? I’m guessing common use OW, *A and ST ala LAX?

    Hey Dave,

Thank you for your comment. Our Asian Skies blog is a forum to for us to discuss/analyze news, cover matters that do not warrant editorial coverage, or cover fun things, like the new HND terminal.

Flightglobal as a whole does cover the Philippines, but you may need to look for those articles on the editorial side of Flightglobal (such as what we publish in Flight International and Airline Business, our core two magazines) or ATI, our aviation news wire service.

That said, if you ever think we should be discussing a specific event or issue definitely give us your thoughts!
