Blogs: February 2011 Archives

We recently launched a couple of new blogs on Flightglobal.

Among them is The Networker - blog covering the worked of airline routes and networks.

Blogger Miyuru Sandaruwan has been actively blogging for some time - previously on the Airline Industry Review and on twitter as @airlineindustry.

He brings his passion and comprehensive knowledge of that part of the aviation industry to The Networker, complete with its own Android app, for those who need to stay in touch with this subject matter.

Obviously airline network planning is of huge importance to the whole operations side of aviation. An airline opening or closing a route has a baring on the airline itself, its competitors, airports, ATC, ground handling, and even has implications for fleet planning and the order books, not to mention the potential passengers themselves.

Following The Networker on flightglobal, via RSS, on Twitter, or on mobile is an ideal way to plug into the happenings of that world.

jjunkers ju52.jpgFlightBlogger posted a 28 minute video offering a "sombre reminder of the incredible risk astronauts have taken to participate in the manned exploration of space and their sacrifice in the line of duty to America's space program", while NASA marked 25 years since the Challenger disaster with a ceremony at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Take a look inside Brit Air's new 100-seat Bombardier CRJ1000 cabin on Runway Girl's blog. You'll see footage of the cockpit, a bigger washroom and includes information about Bombardier's in-flight connectivity and electronic flight bag (EFB) plans.

There's also an informative look at the WTO spat looking at the history of the investigation on subsidies plus the Boeing view, and the Airbus view soon to come.

Take a look at a picture of a great retro aircraft, the Junker JU-52 flying in South African skies uploaded by AirSpace user sonjaG.

Valentines Day is approaching so don't forget you can send your beloved a print of a favourite aircraft or cutaway drawing which are all available in a range of gifts including mugs, jigsaws or canvas prints on the Flightglobal Image Store.
