Flightglobal has today launched a brand new channel focussed on in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems.

The IFE channel will feature the latest news and developments in the sector, as well as videos, blogs and features.

The channel will be spearheaded by Flightglobal Senior Editor Mary Kirby, who also writes the popular Runway Girl blog.

Mary Kirby explains the launch of the new channel: "In recent years there has been an explosion of interest and usage in in-flight entertainment and connectivity (IFE&C) as airlines seek new ways to enhance their ancillary revenue streams and differentiate their products from competitors.

"The IFE&C market is thriving despite the current global economic slump. Recognizing the importance of this market, Flightglobal today launches a dedicated IFE&C web channel. We hope to become your destination of choice for IFE&C news and views."

Probably should've done this a long time ago but, as they say, one thing at a time. Anyway, we've set up a new Flight Tests channel on the site.

And we've retrospectively gone back and tagged previous flight tests so they're all grouped in the one place.

These PIREPS are obviously great stuff - recent test flights include the Phenom 100 and Pilatus PC-21.

We've introduced a new service on the Safety Channel called Incident Watch.

It's compiled by our Flight Data Team who diligently research the web every working day for all reported incidents to any powered aircraft (GA and above, including military).

Incident Watch is a sample of the events which they find and add to the World Incident Database.

We’ve added an additional channel to our current navigation on Flightglobal - Environment ...

The environment and all its associated issues is a subject that simply grows more critical everyday and it more than deserves its own dedicated area on the site.

At present the channel contains editorial material from the Flight team, as well as a widget showing the latest industry-wide covergae on carbon emissions.

The plan for the future is to augment this coverage with sector-specific blogs, aggregated content from other industry sources, aviation and the environment reference tools and much more.

In addition, we will be splitting down the broad environment label into more focussed labels such as technology and carbon emissions in order to improve the user’s experience.
