Seaplanes make a splash in Flight International

Watch out for next week's issue of Flight International (5 July) in which we take a ride on the lake on a reborn Beaver when we visit Washington State seaplane operator Kenmore. The cover image - with the aircraft reflected in the water - is quite something.

David Learmount will also be taking a ride in one of the 787 simulators as he looks at what Boeing is doing to equip airlines, pilots, cabin crew and maintenance technicians for its soon-to-enter-service Dreamliner.

Flight International's Paris report

If you want to know what really went on, and what really mattered at the Paris air show, Flight International's 28 June Paris report special issue has it all.

The cover is an eye-catching image of an Airbus A380, with a difference. It was taken at the show from the viewing platform at Flightglobal's chalet, using a FLIR Systems Star Safire HD sensor. FLIR was providing real-time, high-definition imagery of the air display during the air show.

The issue contains more than 30 pages of show report, including two stunning photospreads of the air display.

One of the things about being part of the Flightglobal Paris team is that you are so busy doing your own stuff that you sometimes miss some of the fantastic material the rest of the team is producing. It is only when you get back to base that you can look back on highlights such as our incredible i-dailies and image gallery. If you haven't had a chance to see them, or the rest of flightglobal.com's Paris coverage, now is your chance.

Paris in full swing

It's Tuesday morning and the Paris air show is in full swing. There is plenty going on, as ever, and you can follow developments as they happen on flightglobal.com/paris.

We have produced two issues of Flight Daily News and Wednesday's paper is in production now. After the last daily "proper" goes to press tomorrow, we move onto producing the 28 June issue of Flight International, the only aviation magazine published during the show.

If you're at Le Bourget on Friday, you can pick up your copy of Flight International - complete with Flight Daily News "wrap", otherwise known as our "fifth daily". Otherwise, subscribers and newstrade buyers can pick up their copies as usual early next week.

And for our subscribers and newstrade readers, there's a special bonus: this year's World Airlines directory comes free with the 28 June issue.

Fighting fire from above

Forest fires are one of the great environmental scourges of our time, the terrible consequences of which have been felt in, among others, Australia and Israel in recent years. In the 7 June issue of Flight International we look at the latest technologies and tactics being deployed by aerial firefighters and our journalists visit waterbombing specialists in Canada, Australia and Israel.

The issue also has a detailed analysis of the report into the AF447 Airbus A330 crash in the mid-Atlantic. Our comment piece examines the two key questions that arise from the report: one concerning icing awareness, the other whether increasing cockpit automation is eroding traditional flying skills and the harmony between pilot and machine.

Today and tomorrow are press days for our biggest issue of the year, the Paris preview edition, out on 14 June. As ever, the perfect-bound Paris (or in even years Farnborough) "fattie" is packed with more than 50 pages of features on the programmes and themes that will be high on the agenda at the show.

Flight International has just published its first interactive magazine, a preview of the Paris air show.

We run through the 10 aircraft you have to see in the flying and static display and eight of what are likely to be the biggest stories from the show, from CSeries orders and Boeing's narrowbody decision, to lessons from Libya and what the Gulf airline giants will order.

There is also a guide to what Flightglobal will be doing at the show. Five show dailys, interactive dailys, a landing page, a live air display feed available on flightglobal.com and constant coverage on social media are just some of the ways you can keep abreast of developments, whether you are at Le Bourget or not.

There's a survival guide to the show, and the city itself, as well as a quiz on Paris air shows past. Can you guess the year key events happened?
