At the Airline Business blog, we learn that San Diego will get a direct connection to the Tijuana International airport when a new cross-border terminal facility opens in 2015, the first in either Mexico or the USA. The project will connect the existing terminal with a new building in the USA via a 150m bridge. Customs facilities at either end should eliminate the often multi-hour border crossing at the highway checkpoints outside the airport. Hyperbola details Flightglobal/Ascend SpaceTrak figures showing that while 74 rocket launches (including SpaceX’s 3 December Falcon 9 flight, pictured) so far this year is nothing special, 2013 has already seen 192 satellites and manned spacecraft launched – the most ever in a single year. The previous high was in 1984 at the height of the Cold War, when there were 176 satellites put into orbit on 129 launches.
