I don’t read or speak Portuguese, but a banner hanging just below a retaining wall damaged when TAM flight JJ3054 plunged over the end of Runway 35L at Congonhas Airport in downtown Sao Paolo on 17 July, would appear to be less than approving on the government’s overseeing of the nation’s aviation system (Os Brasileiros estao cansado, Detanta Incompetencia e Corrupcao). Opposite the dig scene are the remains of the TAM Express building the plane ploughed into that night, killing 187 on board and 12 on the ground. The highway between the two is operating as usual. Photos were taken August 8.
