Great dame! Meet Edna – US airlines’ weapon in the FAA funding wars

ATA%27s%20Edna.jpg

Edna, star of the US Air Transport Association’s advertising campaign about funding for the FAA’s next generation (NextGen) air traffic control system, likes to wear big wigs, but says she does not support subsidizing bigwigs – in this case, corporate or private aircraft, which the ATA says do not a pay their fair share for using ATC. Edna is the one on the left, with ATA president and CEO James May.

Sorry, but I don’t feel the need as a GA pilot who pays the going fee for the services I use via a fuel tax (which is due for increase, but not 274%) to subsidize air carrier big wigs who earn 240% of their average workers’ pay. And still want Government handouts because they aren’t making enough money.

Besides, I work for an airline, and can’t afford the increased costs of aircraft operation now. And I am NOT asking for a Government bailout.
