A couple of months ago Flight wrote about camel spider that fatally distracted a military pilot in an F-16 fighter aircraft while in Afghanistan. Ben Mutzabaugh's Today in the Sky Blog has highlighted how an airline passenger was stung by a scorpion during a flight from San Jose, Costa Rica, to Madrid.

"Someone must have smuggled the scorpion onto the aeroplane and let it out there," an Iberia representative says. "The motive is not clear."
The victim's deodorant would have been tested to the max having felt severe nausea after being stung by the creature, which was caught and killed by fellow passengers.

Indeed, and I was bitten in the leg by a poisonous spider on a KLM flight from Nairobi to Amsterdam. (First Class upstairs)I could not walk for 10 days. I took pictures of the bite and sent it off to KLM and asked them what are they going to do about it ? I never received a reply. No, I have not flown with KLM since, for they should take more care of their passengers ! I still have the scars of the bite and they will never go away.
